- What’s a Motionbook and what’s it for?
A Motionbook is your 15-second video clip, transformed into a portable, printed, 75-page, 3.5 inch by 2 inch animated flipbook.
Motionbooks make great wedding favors, party gifts, birth announcements, event invitations, stocking stuffers, vacation souvenirs…the sky’s the limit!
Back- How do I make a Motionbook?
Making a Motionbook is quick and easy. First, select a video to transform into a Motionbook. Next, pick the cover theme and add your own title. Place your order, and your Motionbook will be printed and shipped to you immediately.
Back- Can I make any video into a Motionbook?
You can make a Motionbook out of almost any video you upload to Motionbox, but there is one exception: The video quality of most cell phone videos just isn’t up to par for printing as a Motionbook, so if you upload one of those, you may get an error message when you try. (The technical answer here is that videos whose dimensions are below 320×240 cannot be made into Motionbooks. Most cell phones shoot video smaller than this size, but there are a few exceptions.)
Back- How much does a Motionbook cost?
$7.99 per book, plus shipping/handling and tax (tax applies only if you’re shipping to NY). Bargain!
Back- What kind of video makes a good or interesting Motionbook?
- A clip that has something/someone moving through the full length or height of the screen (from one side of the screen to the other – either vertically or horizontally, even better diagonally)
- Zooming in or zooming out of a scene quickly. For example start with a close-up of a flower and zoom out to the person holding it!
- An action that changes at least one thing drastically from start to end – good rule of thumb is look at the first frame, and the last frame – it should look vastly different, and that will usually make an interesting flipbook.
Make sure you choose a clip that works well without any sound! A talking head doesn’t make a great Motionbook unless you’re really good at reading lips.
Back- What if my video is longer than 15 seconds?
If your video is longer than 15 seconds, we’ll ask you to pick the 15-second section that you want to make into your Motionbook. Choosing your “Motionbook moment” is as easy as click and drag.
Back- What if my video is shorter than 15 seconds?
No problem. But in our experience, videos under 5 seconds long tend to not work out so well when they’re made into Motionbooks. If you really want to go ahead with it, send us feedback through the feedback page and we’ll see what we can do.
Back- How long will it take for my Motionbook(s) to arrive in the mail?
Delivery time depends on the shipping option you choose, and on the time of year. Generally, it takes about 5 days to print your Motionbook, as we pay very careful attention to print quality and do our best to make sure your book will look good! During the holidays it gets a little hectic and we can guarantee that it ship within 7 business days. So if you’re planning on giving Motionbooks as holiday gifts, please place your order early! For this Christmas, orders must be placed by 12/10 (with standard shipping) and 12/11 (with express shipping), for arrival by 12/24.
Back- What are my shipping options?
We ship Motionbooks via the U.S. Postal Service. When shipping within the U.S., you have the choice of either standard (2-3 business days) or express (2 business days) delivery.
For international shipping, just select your country from the drop down box under ‘Shipping Info’ and the shipping cost will be automatically calculated for the destination.
Back- What is your return policy?
You have 14 days to return your Motionbook if you’re not happy with it. We’ll do our best to ensure your satisfaction!
Back- What if I realize I’ve made a mistake after receiving my order confirmation?
If you’ve made a typo or selected the wrong video, please contact us ASAP through the feedback form. The sooner you tell us, the more likely we’ll be able to make the fix before the Motionbook has gone into the printing process.
Back- What if there’s something wrong with my Motionbook when it arrives in the mail?
Let us know immediately if your Motionbook is damaged or misprinted. Please contact us through the feedback page and we’ll get back to you right away.
Back- Can I send Motionbooks to friends and relatives?
Yes! Currently you can send your Motionbook order to one shipping address, but that shipping address can be different from the billing address.
Back- Can I order more than one Motionbook at a time? Do I get a discount for bulk orders?
You can order as many Motionbooks as you’d like. Currently, you can order multiple copies of the same Motionbook, but we’re working on letting you purchase different Motionbooks at the same time.
